The annual event is organized by the IAFC (Association of Film Commissioners International) and during the past 25 years has become the principal meeting place for filmmakers seeking locations for their projects and for film commissioners and service providers interested in presenting new incentives, local talent and resources, new offices and services, etc. Also while in California, the CFC met directly with field producers and international producers from leading studios such as Paramount, Disney, 20th Century Fox and Warner and with independent producers including Oscar-winning Summit Entertainment, Lionsgate, Millennium Films and Yari Filmgroup, all very interested in visiting Colombia and filming future projects here. | Construction on Airport Serving Coffee-Growing Region Advances The new airport designed to serve the coffee-growing region will be ready near the end of 2011. The goal of the project is to open Colombia’s coffee-growing region to business and international tourism. The airport is located in Palestina (Caldas) and construction will begin with a 2,400-meter runway ready to receive Airbus 319 passenger and cargo planes traveling to and from Brazil, Central America and the US; the second stage of construction will lengthen the initial runway to 3,600 meters to allow for transoceanic flights connecting directly with Europe and Asia, thus complying with requirements contained in Annex 14 of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) regulations. I have a long trajectory as a film technician, it has been 25 years since I started working in this industry and I would dare say that the moment we have this mix, this marriage, it works even better than a purely French, or even purely Colombian film. This union of the two crews, of the two cultures, contributes a lot. About the shooting conditions in town, what I like about Cartagena is that nothing is blocked. Sometimes, it can be a little complicated, as in any city of the world. If you shoot in a French city, or in New York, it may be very difficult. There is always someone willing to help us solve the situation, to understand the needs of the film, at the end everything worked out excellent”.
